Frasca supplies a Pilatus PC-12NG FTD to RFDS WA

Perth, Australia – 1 June 2025 – The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Western Australia Section has taken a significant step forward in pilot training and operational safety with the successful delivery and installation of a new Frasca Pilatus PC-12NG Level 6 Flight Training Device (FTD).

Delivered in collaboration with Frasca International, FlightSafety International, and Aviation Simulator Technology (AST)—the exclusive Australasian representative for Frasca—the simulator is now being prepared for CASA qualification at RFDS WA’s training facility and it is set to play a key role in advancing pilot proficiency, standardisation, and safety.

Designed to replicate the flight characteristics and cockpit layout of the Pilatus PC-12NG, the Frasca Level 6 FTD delivers high-fidelity, immersive training in a controlled environment. This simulator will support the ongoing development of RFDS pilots by enabling realistic, scenario-based training—without the risks or costs associated with in-aircraft sessions.

The Frasca PC-12NG simulator will enable the RFDS to provide highly effective training that enhances pilot performance, safety, and operational readiness across the fleet.

“It's been a three year journey getting the Frasca Level 6 PC-12NG FTD into service for the RFDS. It will be a game-changing addition to the RFDS WA training program,” said Kim Wadham, Principal Consultant at AST.
