About us

the story of AST

Based in Queensland, we assist customers in acquiring Fixed-Wing and Helicopter Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD), Flight Training Device (FTD), and Full Flight Simulator (FFS) solutions.

We've been supporting Airlines, Universities, Colleges, Flying Schools and most brands of simulators in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider Asia Pacific Region for over three decades.

History Timeline

1987

In 1987 our founder—a flying instructor at the Royal Victorian Aero Club—recognised the need to replace the school’s outdated, 40-year-old Link Trainer with a modern solution. He acquired an ATC710 and modified it to include Morse code identification. The upgrade enabled the ATC710 to replace an old Link Trainer—leading to significantly improved training outcomes. Our business was born.

History Timeline

1991

Our business was engaged by the Frasca sales agent for Australasia to evaluate the performance of a Frasca simulator requiring calibration ahead an approval inspection. This one-off assignment led to a long-standing relationship with Frasca's Australasian agent—built on trust, technical expertise, and a shared commitment to quality flight simulation.

History Timeline

2003

With a strong reputation for servicing and supporting flight simulators—and a growing business—we recognised the need to offer additional solutions to address gaps in the flight training industry. In response, we introduced new simulator brands. This strategic move fuelled further growth and ultimately led to the evolution of our company into Aviation Simulator Technology (AST) as it is known today.

History Timeline

2013

As Frasca devices grew in popularity—renowned for their fidelity, reliability, and longevity—AST increasingly focused its efforts on supporting Frasca solutions. When Frasca’s long-standing sales agent retired in 2013, it was a natural transition for AST to assume the role of Frasca’s trusted sales agent.
